Pine County Health and Human Services is partnering with the United Way to bring a multitude of resources to Pine County residents at no charge at their upcoming Operation Community Connect (OCC) event. This resource fair is open to all and will be held at the Hinckley Community Center on Tuesday, October 11 from 10am to 2pm.
In addition to a free lunch and haircuts, staff will be on hand with resources for housing, childcare, food access, education, mental health services, disability services, senior services, Veterans services, warrant resolution, flu and Covid-19 vaccinations and more. Childcare is available and everyone is welcome! The OCC event will also include a cold weather gear giveaway for all ages.
New and gently used coats, hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and socks are being collected through Friday, October 7 at area businesses. Donated items can be dropped off at Northview Bank in Willow River, Askov, Finlayson, Sandstone and Hinckley; Northern Pine Chiropractic in Sturgeon Lake; First Lutheran Church ELCA in Hinckley; Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Three Twenty Brewing and the Pizza Pub in Pine City; the North Pine Government Center in Sandstone and the Pine County Courthouse.
Donated items are requested for infants to senior citizens. All cold weather gear will be given away free of charge to those in need.
“We are thankful to work with the United Way and other partners to provide this one-stop shop event for our community. Families can come in for lunch and parents will be able to utilize childcare as needed to be able to access the many resources we have available to them. We hope to see many of our community members at the OCC event on October 11th,” says Hailey Freedlund, Pine County Public Health Educator and event coordinator.
Pine County Operation Community Connect will be at the Hinckley Community Center, 102 Dunn Avenue N, on Tuesday, October 11th from 10am to 2pm.
