The Pine City Heritage Players are excited to be back on stage with a winter comedy to continue the 2023 season announced last fall. The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 will be directed by Jay Schueller. Schueller shared a little insight into the show, “While it is definitely a comedy – it is definitely NOT a musical, though it does poke fun at the thing we love most – the theater.”
The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, written by John Bishop, originally premiered in 1987. The show tells the story of the creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop (in which three chorus girls were murdered) as they gather for an audition at the home of a wealthy producer. The house is complete with sliding panels, secret passages, and people with secret identities – all of which will factor into the comic mayhem of the evening.
