“To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love” – Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
The Snake River Fur Post, nestled into the landscape just west of Pine City, provides an educational experience for those seeking to learn about the fur trading post and the people of the region that operated the post. At times throughout the year the Snake River Fur Post also provides for entertainment that can bring history to life.
On Saturday, February 9th guests are invited to attend Queen Charlotte’s Ball, where you can enjoy an evening of early 19th-century entertainment with a lively country dance at the fur post. Country dancing was a favorite diversion for the genteel classes in the early 1800s. Dance steps will be taught and called at the ball. Complimentary refreshments will be available. Period or semiformal attire is requested.
Join a short lesson in dancing steps when doors open at 6 pm; dancing begins at 7 pm.
