Pine City Parks & Recreation Director, Brock Bloomquist has added “treasure hunting” to the list of recreational opportunities for the Pine City Community. (To be fair, there are many local geocache sites already posted online)
Geocaching is the world’s largest treasure hunting game with over 3 million cleverly hidden containers called geocaches hidden all over the world. Bloomquist recently shared on the Parks & Rec facebook page some “basics” to know about Geocaching.
- Geocaches come in all shapes & sizes
- They are created by individuals in the global geocaching community
- Geocaches are meant to remain hidden so that others can find them, most will have a log for you to sign showing you were there, then you put it back where you found it.
- In a larger geocache (like the two recently added by Bloomquist) you can find trackables or items to trade.
- Trackables are meant to move from geocache to geocache
- If you take something meant to be traded, be sure to leave something of equal or greater value.
