Flora, Fauna, and Fables by Layl McDill

Layl McDill is a talented artist with a lifelong passion for creativity. Growing up in Gillette, Wyoming, she began crafting at an early age, creating intricate dollhouses, marionettes, and even a “Smurf Village.” She went on to earn her BFA in Illustration from the Columbus College of Art & Design but soon discovered her true passion lay in sculptural art. Since 1994, she has exhibited her work nationwide in galleries and art fairs.

Layl’s medium of choice is polymer clay, where she uses the millefiori technique to create sculptures brimming with intricate details and a sense of wonder. Often incorporating mixed media, her work explores themes of nature, animals, and humanity’s interaction with the environment. She is also dedicated to inspiring others, teaching polymer clay art both in person and virtually across the country.

On Friday, January 3, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Layl will be teaching a class at Pine Center for the Arts called Squish and Sip. Sign up at pinecenter.org.
