The dedicated team for the Pine City Farmer’s Market have been busy this month getting things ready to launch the 2022 Farmer’s Market here in Pine City. The full Handbook and Application have been updated for 2022. Applications are now available and will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so new vendors are encouraged to apply throughout the season. Special event requests should allow for 4 weeks to allow for proper planning.
Who’s Eligible?
The use of the Market is restricted to the sale of local products produced by the vendor, from within a 50-mile radius of Pine City. Special exceptions may be allowed from time to time, upon the approval of the Board in response to local supply or productivity; such exemptions are not to interfere with locally produced products.
Product Categories:
The Market accepts vendors of products that fall into any of its four categories. It is the Vendor’s responsibility to ensure that all products in each category comply with current Minnesota Department of Agriculture regulations and are properly labeled.
- Agriculture: Products include but are not limited to fruit and vegetables, plants, shrubs, trees, flowers, honey, maple syrup, mushrooms, meat, fish, poultry & eggs, soils, manure, firewood, wool, animal feed, grains, etc.
- Cottage Foods: Products include but are not limited to breads, rolls, buns, muffins, cookies, fruit pies, cakes, pastries, freezer jam, pickles, preserves, etc. [All items fall into the “non- potentially hazardous” foods category as defined by the MN Dept of Agriculture. Since July 2015 all Cottage Foods producers must be certified annually by MDA.]
- Food Concession: Products include foods sold “ready to eat” for consumption at the Market. The number of concessions is intentionally limited, and preference is given to vendors offering homemade products. [The MN Dept of Agriculture requires a valid Retail Mobile Food Handler License.]
- Arts and Crafts: Arts and crafts must be handmade by the vendor using their own artistry, skill and/or training to produce a new, original and unique product.
The Farmer’s Market season is slated to open on Friday, June 10th and run through Saturday, October 29th this year.
