About Joey Seltzer: Joey Seltzer began his artistic journey a few years ago while drawing furniture designs for his apartment. Starting with perspective and shading, he soon transitioned to painting simple landscapes. Encouraged by family and friends, Joey pursued art courses, drawing inspiration from Piet Mondrian’s ordered simplicity and the golden ratio. Joey explains, “I like Mondrian’s simple shapes and basic colors. His work was ordered. I am also inspired by the golden ratio. I have incorporated the Fibonacci sequence into my work as well. I am beginning to take well-known patterns and work them out in the abstract style.”
About Rick and Nikki Schneider: Rick and Nikki Schneider’s work consists of blown glass sculptures and vessels that utilize cameo sandblasted imagery, offering poignant and satirical social commentary. “My wife and I have working-class backgrounds, and we use the activities of this background as our subject matter. This can range from waiting for a bus, going to see a doctor, bowling, a day at the beach, or any vocation,” explains Rick. Their early work drew inspiration from Greek narrative pottery and comic book imagery. What truly interested them were the narrative stories contained in the paintings on these vessels. Their series has evolved from early Greek-inspired vessels to mixed media sculptures and wall pieces, with glass forms taking on more of a role than just a canvas for imagery. “We want the pieces’ messages to be understandably simple at first glance. We believe the viewer will interpret more into the piece based on their experience.”
