In March of 2022, the City of Pine City began work on a Community Action Plan project to engage community members together to focus on plans and projects to create real change in our community. Throughout the five month process, the volunteer-led initiative identified several ambitious goals that would require planning, meeting and consensus-building in the community. In order to focus work on those goals, the CAP team wrote and received a grant from the Blandin Foundation.
The first of four goals established by the CAP Leadership Committee focuses on improving the healthy eating options in Pine City beyond the choices currently available.
On Friday, September 8th the CAP Leadership Committee will be partnering with the Pine City Farmer’s Market and 15 participating vendors for a “Healthy Eating Day” in Pine City. Community members are invited to attend the Farmer’s Market from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM and enjoy free samples of healthy foods and treats.
