U of M Extension invites you to join our summer Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) webinar on August 2, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This is part of a webinar series that explores research and innovation in BR&E. The webinar is FREE and open to all those who are interested in economic development.
Business Retention & the Silver Tsunami. Extension educator Liz Templin and a team of researchers conducted research in 2016 on how small rural communities are retaining businesses as the Silver Tsunami of baby boomer retirements sweeps the nation. The research revealed success techniques as well as key issues for community economic development as a massive generational transfer of ownership and leadership of rural business occurs. Unlike most research on business succession/transition, this study examined the community level aspects of the issue as opposed to firm-level aspects. Join Liz Templin, special guest speaker Julie Keyes, and your peers for the August 2nd webinar!
For more information about this topic you can also check out Episode 14 of the Vital Connections on Air podcast. This research was published in the Journal of the Community Development Society (48:2, May, 2017).
The webinar series will help you to learn about current topics in retaining and expanding businesses while creating a community of practice for BR&E practitioners. Webinars are offered through WebEx and do not require pre-registration. Watch our webpage to learn about future offerings!
