Early-Season and Pain-Free Gardening Workshop, June 17th

What should you do once your garden is planted? Pick up early season gardening maintenance tips at this month’s garden workshop at the Pine City Community Garden on Monday, June 17th at 6 p.m.

The garden located at 10 S. E. 3 rd St. in Pine City in Challeen Park near to the fishing pier on the south side of the Snake River and east of the railroad.

At this workshop, Pine County Master Gardeners Kari Holmberg and Lauren Meister will cover “Early Season Maintenance” including mulching, watering, weeding, succession planting, trellising and composting. Jimmie Johnson, U of M SNAP Educator will discuss “Pain Free Gardening”. He will demonstrate proper posture when lifting and using tools in the garden to
avoid strains and injury.

The workshop is FREE and open to the public. In case of rain it will be moved to the Pine County Courthouse at 635 Northridge Dr. N.W. in Pine City. In that situation, there will be a sign at the garden.

20 ft. x 10 ft. plots and an 8 ft. x 3 ft. raised beds are still available to rent for a small fee for the season at the Pine City Community Garden. Information and contract forms can be picked up from the Pine County Extension Office at the courthouse in Pine City or by calling 320-591-1651 Ext. #4 or 3.

Future Monday evening gardening workshops at the Pine City Community Garden will be held on July 22nd , August 19th and September 16th .
